AFL-CIO Resolution Illustrates Growing Momentum & Unity Behind Immigration Reform

Washington, DCThe following is a statement by Rich Stolz, Campaign Manager for the Reform Immigration FOR America campaign on the resolution in support of comprehensive immigration reform adopted by the AFL-CIO at their convention in Pittsburgh today.

The Campaign applauds the AFL-CIO for standing up for all workers in America including immigrants. The resolution illustrates the united voice of America’s workers who understand that the broken immigration system deprives millions of basic workplace rights and protections – both immigrant and native-born alike. Fixing our broken immigration system will restore these rights; allow good employers who follow the rules to avoid being undercut by employers who don’t; inject billions of dollars in much needed tax revenue into government coffers; and keep families together who face separation through deportation or endless waits for legal reunification. At a time when divisive voices continue to demonize immigrants, the AFL-CIO has made an important statement for unity and real solutions that can move this nation’s workers and our economy forward.
