Reform Immigration FOR America!

This week, we united in the thousands. Family members, community leaders, students, parishioners and politicians, all gathered at events across the country to call on the leadership in this country to pass immigration reform FOR America.

We were in Milwaukee, WI, calling on reform that supports the rights of workers.

We were in Philadelphia, PA, marching in front of City Hall and demanding an end to the twisted bureaucracy that keeps 12 million of us in the shadows.

We were in San Jose, CA calling on DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano to take a personal message to President Obama, to stop the raids, and stop tearing our families apart.

And we were in Washington, DC, to deliver that message to the front door of the United States Congress, as we met with Representatives and Senators, and gathered on the West Lawn of the Capitol in a rally that grabbed the nation’s attention.

There is no doubt about it: this was an absolutely momentous week in the movement for immigration reform. Together, we showed our leadership and the nation that we are united in this fight.

We here at the campaign want to thank all of you, from DC to California and everywhere in between, who were a part of it. Whether you rode a bus with your parish or community hundreds of miles to be at the Capitol, or stood up to Janet Napolitano in Santa Clara, everyone was a part in this week’s success.

But it’s not over. We know that this was just the beginning. We know that there no matter how many of us gathered at the Capitol or how much media coverage we generated, while there is still a broken system in place that tears families apart, that leaves millions working for unfair wages, and that breeds racism and discrimination, we will not rest. This week, we showed the nation that we are ready, we are organized, and we are powerful. And as long as that system is still in place, we will continue to make our voice heard, and demand that this nation passes comprehensive immigration reform!

We have posted below a rundown of some of the action generated from this week’s events. Take some time to look over the blog, too, for more substance from individual rallies and marches.

As a team we all can do this, it’s something that has waited too long and it’s caused too many problems and fear. If we are all united in this we can change, change for good.
