Arizona has become a flash point in the fight for civil rights across the country and has catapulted the immigrant rights movement front-and-center in the mainstream media. With the announcement of the Obama administration’s lawsuit against the state’s immigration law, SB 1070, activism and orgazning in the “show me your papers” state has become more important than ever.
Promise Arizona, a newly launched organization that was sparked by the SB 1070 fight, is recruiting people who want to join Arizona’s “Summer of Hope” and fight for justice in our country.
Calling upon the legacy of a previous crisis of racial injustice in our nation – the Freedom Summer of the civil rights movement – the PAZ Fellows Program will create a volunteer structure and action plan that will enable out-of-state volunteers to join local organizing designed to register thousands of voters and create long-term change in Arizona.
Arizona needs you. The movement needs you. Take three weeks out of your life and make a lasting impact on history and justice for all in our country.
