Marchers heading to Washington, DC for the March For America are traveling from as far Washington and Oregon State.
The Washington Immigration Reform Coalition for America (WIRC), is sending a delegation of about 50 people ready for comprehensive immigration reform. The coalition is made up of over 50 organizations, who are proud to be from Washington as the state is a national leader in the reform movement.
Late last week, Washington became the first state in the nation where both U.S. Senators have sent letters to President Obama expressing support for passing a bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform bill this year. And Seattle City Council President Richard Conlin and Councilmembers Nick Licata and Mike O’Brien helped to pass a city resolution to support for federal immigration reform.
Oregon state is not to be out done. A delegation of 50 people from Oregon are also making their way to Washington, DC for the March For America. Marchers will include members of faith, and business and labor groups, all of whom say immigrants deserve a fair shot at becoming U.S. citizens.
