Representative Luis Gutierrez, the consummate champion of just and humane immigration reform, is making good on a promise.

In October, Rep. Gutierrez came to our Family Unity event and spoke in front of the capitol about the urgent need for reform. In November, he spoke to more than 60,000 people during our Families, Freedom and Faith telephonic town hall. Each step of the way, he promised to  continue to work to keep families together and find solutions to the currently broken immigration system.

Now, after months of build-up, Tuesday is the big day: he will introduce a long-awaited immigration reform bill in the House of Representatives.

From Rep. Gutierrez’s website:

“We have waited patiently for a workable solution to our immigration crisis to be taken up by this Congress and our President,” said Rep. Gutierrez. “The time for waiting is over. This bill will be presented before Congress recesses for the holidays so that there is no excuse for inaction in the New Year. It is the product of months of collaboration with civil rights advocates, labor organizations, and members of Congress. It is an answer to too many years of pain —mothers separated from their children, workers exploited and undermined security at the border— all caused at the hands of a broken immigration system. This bill says ‘enough,’ and presents a solution to our broken system that we as a nation of immigrants can be proud of.”

On Tuesday, the Reform Immigration FOR America campaign will join Rep. Gutierrez as he introduces legislation that reflects American values and beliefs about family, community, and fairness. I hope you can join us.

I don’t believe that if you’re here illegally, you should have any rights. Why would you believe that its constitutional when you don’t follow our own laws??

Illegal immigration has ruined our country. How come you can’t fight for Mexico to become better for your country but you have to ruin ours??
