It has been an amazing year in the fight for immigration reform. We started with renewed hope for reform under a new administration and ended with the first introduction of a comprehensive immigration reform bill in this Congress.

In between we marched for Family Unity, organized over 1,000 house parties across the country, made hundreds of thousands of phone calls and faxes into the White House and Congress and showed that there is a large majority of Americans who are committed to sensible and humane solutions to our immigration system.

We want to say thank you to all of our supporters and activists who have worked so hard this year – we are honored to work alongside you in this fight. We are looking forward to making history with you in 2010 when we pass comprehensive immigration reform that keeps our families together and works for everyone.

Happy holidays to all!

If we cannot sponsor our spouses to be with us in our own country, causing banishment from the USA, then we are thwarting those LGBT relationships; – Silence by this Administration and the continued persecution of gays and lesbians, profiled and deported at the airports by suspicious ICE officers, is the same as overtly stating that exiling our gays and lesbians is acceptable. These people are coming on legitimate visas and being turned away at airports. The relationships are the essence of who we are and the absolute benchmark for acceptability, beyond mere tolerance.
This situation, is hardly known by mainstream America and I imagine once revealed more openly, through columns such as mine, the average American may feel compassion or perhaps even some guilt. The fact that America can exile its own citizens is simply unconscionable. As a community we are hurt and sickened by the perception that a Democratic majority and President cannot rescue us from the throat hold of the religious right and from States that vote away our rights. reade more at -
