Before the racial profiling law was passed in Arizona, political talk show host Chris Matthews asked Representative Brian Bilbray (R-CA) to explain how law enforcement could reasonably identify undocumented immigrants. Rep. Bilbray’s answer was telling:

“[Police] will look at the kind of dress you wear, there is a different type of attire, there is a different type of — right down to the shoes.”

Yes, the ignorance is astounding, we know. So we thought we’d come up with a quiz to illustrate just how outlandish this idea is (and how racial profiling will necessarily play a role in enforcing Arizona’s new law).

Take our quiz – then tell members of Congress to oppose racial profiling.

My 15-year old daughter tells me she knows by their footwear who SHOULD be undocumented.

Ray, yes you can easely identify someone who has just arrived to the U.S. but what do you think about the millions of people who have lived in the U.S. for decades? I would think they should look pretty American, right? And it is just sort of odd that Only caucasians think this law is not racist, just because ther is a clause that says that someone cannot be stopped based on their skin color, wonder why?

Well, that statement does have some holes in it because you can’t spot every “illegal” immigrant by they way they dress. For him to have said something like that was pretty far-fetched and a bit stereotypical but, the fact still stands that this law was to question “any illegal immigrant” in Arizona. If you are suspect to such an accusation, then you are subject to questioning. The only reason said community even feels that way is because they know its a true fact that majority of illegal immigration is because of the Hispanic community. What they fail to realize is that their illegal immigration causes problems within our country. Problems that citizens of this country must deal with because we are citizens and that we will be held accountable for what illegals cannot be. Like say the economy, or maybe even socialized healthcare. Although the general population feels some kind of way about this Arizona state law this law is probably the greatest thing that happened to America in decades and that these illegals have no right as U.S. citizens because they aren’t U.S. citizens. If they want citizenship, they should go about it the same way every legal immigrant has done it so far, through paperwork and hard work. So quit whining about how insensitive this is because America is finally doing something to protect itself and everyone wants to complain. If America knows what’s good for itself, it’ll accept the bill like American nationals should.

The statement that you can spot suspicious activity by a pair of shoes is unfortunately not a joke. This is just a particularly blatant example.

Shoes…why don’t you show a face…ear rings. Are these people caucasian, afro, mixed asian. Did they overstay a student, visitors visa…did they cross the Rio Grande or the Niagra River, or deplane in Hawaii.

If a crime is committed by a caucasian male the police are going to stop caucasian males…if the crime is committed by people of hisspanic/latino orgins that group will be targeted. Too bad..make sure you have ID.

I spend a majority of my time in Mexico…I get stopped…and my ID saves the day…

Fortunately it is true….clothing can be one of many identifiers that can identify the non assimilated person. I have a distant relative that is a member of the US Border Patrol. We were in a casino located in the eastern US. He identified two young men, by virtue of their clothing and mannerisms as being recently arrived in the US. Whether they were illegal or not would have required a “stop” for identification. He was not working, so he did not initiate a stop.

All people develop a “sixth” sense as to their jobs (Law enforcement or non Law enforcement) as to something feels right.
